Here’s one for the books!
Our inspiring European Director, Phil Hyldgaard, recently spoke at the European Parliament in Belgium for an event organized by a lobby, Care For Europe. The event targeted NGOs and general public to discuss human rights and trafficking.

With the demand on human trafficking being as high at it is, the event speakers broke the topic into three parts: the general demand of trafficking, the demand in labor trafficking and the demand for sexual exploitation.

Phil spoke in depth on the reasoning why there is a massive demand for human trafficking and broke down the demand into four specific categories:
The men who buy commercial sex.
The exploiters who make up the sex industry.
The culture that tolerates or promotes sexual exploitation.
The states that are the destination countries for this crime.

Sad you missed out? Here’s a peek into his speech.
“There is one thing everyone can agree on and that is that we are all against slavery and it does not belong in the 21st century. When looking at the facts and scale of human trafficking, we all have to ask ourselves this, ‘what are we doing to address the demand that drives this global crime.’”
Whether you are a supporter, follower or monthly partner of The A21 Campaign, we could not be more proud of Phil and our whole Greek team for going to new heights and standing up against injustice on the ground.
