What is the Internship Program?
The A21 Internship Program is designed to give you the opportunity to be a part of the A21 team in the country of your choice. It is a chance to gain in-depth exposure to the projects, initiatives, and daily activities involved in combating human trafficking.
In the USA and Australia, people over 18 years old with a passion to combat human trafficking are able to apply. Please note these two offices do not accept international applicants.
In Greece, Bulgaria, and Ukraine, applicants who are over 21, and have specific skills and experience that match the criteria of the position they choose to apply for. International applicantions are accepted for these two internships.
Ukrainian internships are located in Kiev, Ukraine.
Greek internships are located in Thessaloniki, Greece.
Bulgaria internships are located in Sofia, Bulgaria.
USA internships are located in Costa Mesa, California.
Australian internships are located in Baulkham Hills, near Sydney.
Interns can choose from one month, three month, six month, or twelve month placements. Visa requirements must be taken into consideration, and many students who have interned with A21 have also been able to gain university credit.
In Greece, there are three internship opportunities available for 3 months, 6 months, or 1 year. They include a shelter internship, an office internship, and a combined internship. For a list of current intakes, please visit the Greek internship page.
In the USA, the summer internship program runs from June to August for all out of state applicants. For applicants who reside in California, internship positions are availble throughout the year.
In Australia, Bulgaria, and Ukraine, interns are accepted througout the year.
Applications are accepted at any time for all internship programs.
There is no program cost associated with The A21 Campaign's internships. However, interns are expected to fund their relocation costs and living expenses for the duration of their internship. Costs to consider include: VISA, flights, travel insurance, transportation, and living expenses (For Greek internships this is estimated to be 150 Euros per week. For USA internships this is estimated to be $300 a week.) Fundraising is a viable option to cover some of the expenses involved. Housing is provided in Greece only.
Do I need to speak another language?
The only language requirement is for our internship in Ukraine, where applications must have at least a basic knowledge of either Russian or Ukrainian.
For internships located in Greece and Bulgaria, there is no language requirement, however knowledge of Greek, Russian, Romanian, and Bulgarian will be beneficial to your work.
For internships in USA or Australia, the only language requirement is proficiency in English.
